Legacy Resources visit AANI to present £1326.08 raised at coffee morning! - Legacy Resources
At Legacy Resources, community is at the heart of everything we do. From keeping people safe through our wide-ranging security services to supporting vital local causes, we believe in giving back where it matters most. One of our proudest moments recently was presenting a donation of £1,326.08 to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI)—funds raised through our charity coffee morning held last week in Belfast.
This special event not only brought our team, clients, and members of the public together for a great cause, but it also highlighted the power of collective support for the emergency services we all depend on. And to make the occasion even more meaningful, we had the privilege of visiting the AANI base in Lisburn to deliver the funds in person and learn more about their life-saving work.
A Life-Saving Mission: What Air Ambulance NI Does
For those unfamiliar, Air Ambulance Northern Ireland is a critical emergency medical service that provides rapid response across the region. Partnered with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, AANI operates a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) that brings advanced pre-hospital care directly to the scene of serious incidents.
Their operations are nothing short of life-saving. Whether it's a major road traffic collision, a farm or workplace accident, or a medical emergency in a remote area, AANI crews are able to reach patients quickly and deliver emergency care that significantly improves survival and recovery outcomes.
However, running such a highly specialized and rapid-response service isn’t cheap. It costs around £2.5 million each year to keep Air Ambulance NI operational. As a charity, they rely heavily on public donations, fundraising events, and corporate support to meet this need.
That’s why we were inspired to step in and do our part.
Brewing Up Support: Our Charity Coffee Morning
On a bright and lively morning in Belfast, Legacy Resources hosted a charity coffee morning at the ever-welcoming Thirsty Goat Beer Garden—a popular city centre venue that generously supported the event. The idea was simple but effective: serve up some coffee, treats, and conversation in exchange for donations to a great cause.
The atmosphere was filled with warmth and generosity. Guests included staff members, clients, friends, local residents, and even a few curious passersby who were drawn in by the buzz. Homemade baked goods, fresh coffee, and friendly service from our volunteers made the event not just a fundraiser, but a joyful gathering.
In just a few hours, we had raised a total of £1,326.08—a testament to the generosity of our network and the community at large.
Visiting the Heroes Behind the Helicopter
A few days later, representatives from Legacy Resources travelled to the Air Ambulance NI headquarters in Lisburn to present the donation. This was more than just a handover—it was an eye-opening experience into the incredible behind-the-scenes operations of the service we’d fundraised for.
The AANI team welcomed us warmly and gave us a guided tour of their base, including a closer look at their state-of-the-art helicopter. Seeing the aircraft up close, fully equipped with advanced life-saving medical equipment, reminded us just how essential this service is.
We were shown how each mission is coordinated—from the moment an emergency call comes in, to when the helicopter lifts off and delivers critical care on-site. It was humbling to learn how every minute can make the difference between life and death, and how this operation is powered by skilled professionals, tireless dedication, and the ongoing generosity of donors.
Why We Chose to Support Air Ambulance NI
At Legacy Resources, we understand the importance of swift, coordinated response in critical situations. It’s a philosophy that guides both our security services and our approach to supporting the community. The work of Air Ambulance NI aligns closely with our values—professionalism, public safety, and service to others.
AANI doesn’t just respond to emergencies—they bring hope in moments of crisis. Their ability to reach people in isolated or dangerous locations, combined with their highly trained medical teams, means they’re often the last lifeline for someone in need. For us, supporting their mission was an easy decision.
More Than Just a Fundraiser
The event wasn’t just about raising money—it was about raising awareness. Many attendees at our coffee morning said they hadn’t realized that Air Ambulance NI relied so heavily on public support to stay in the air. Sharing their story helped build greater understanding of how critical their role is in our community.
The event also gave our own team the opportunity to connect in new ways—with each other, with our clients, and with members of the public. In an industry where professionalism and structure are key, it was refreshing to create an environment that was relaxed, social, and rooted in kindness.
Looking Ahead: More Community Support to Come
Our successful coffee morning and visit to Air Ambulance NI have left us inspired and energized. We’re already planning our next community event, and we’re eager to continue supporting local causes that make Northern Ireland a safer, stronger place to live and work.
Fundraising is now a permanent part of our company culture, and we welcome future collaborations with other charities, clients, and venues who share our values. Whether it’s hosting events, providing volunteer support, or offering corporate sponsorship, we’re committed to doing our part.
Final Thanks
We want to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the coffee morning, donated online, or helped spread the word. A special shoutout goes to The Thirsty Goat Beer Garden for hosting us so generously, and of course to the team at Air Ambulance Northern Ireland for the vital work they do every day.
At Legacy Resources, we pride ourselves on protecting people and building safer communities—and that mission extends far beyond our security services. By supporting organisations like AANI, we’re investing in the health, safety, and well-being of everyone in Northern Ireland.
Stay tuned for updates on our next fundraising initiative, and thank you once again for helping us make a difference.
